Hi There! Katie Pugliese Photography has gotten a makeover. You can still view my previous work on this blog, but for the latest and greatest head on over to www.katiepugliesephotography.com. See ya over there!
As I’m sure you’re aware the spring weather hasn’t been all that kind to us just yet, but on this particular mid-April evening I lucked out and hit the jackpot. I had the perfect temperature, lighting, atmosphere, and couple for the maternity session of these first time parents-to-be, Kim and Chris.
Not even married a year yet they wasted no time starting a family. Due in just a few short weeks now they are awaiting the arrival of their first child, a daughter. I’m not sure if the name is being kept under wraps or not so I’ll just refer to her as “baby girl”. But it’s a really awesome name, in fact if we ever have a girl, there’s a good chance this would be her name.
Anyway, Chris thoughtfully surprised Kim with this maternity session as a Christmas gift. So after discussing with Kim her vision for the session we settled on Westmoor Park in West Hartford (one of my favorite places to shoot at) and it did not disappoint! The trees weren’t exactly in bloom yet, but it didn’t matter because the amazing, warm, soft light was really the only prop I needed, well, and a stunning mama-to-be with her beach wave hair (which I’m totally going to attempt to copy!). Not to mention a very cooperative hubby who happily did anything I asked him to do (thanks, Chris).
Kim and Chris, enjoy these last few weeks as a couple while you await the arrival of your little girl. Once she’s placed in your arms for the first time, life will never be the same (or better in my opinion). I’m looking forward to her newborn session and capturing you as a family the next time around.
Big smiles from these two whenever I asked them to say hi their baby girl.
Kim, you are literally glowing in this image. She is stunning, am I right? I’m right.
This image was printed as a canvas to hang in the baby’s room as part of a gallery wall.
I was determined to get a silhouette shot, and no, that perfectly placed sun burst is not photoshopped in. That’s the real thing!
I’m a little late to the game with this post because Baby Nora decided to make her entrance into the the world ahead of schedule, 18 days early in fact. Unfortunately she missed sharing her birthday with her, ahem, favorite aunt (me) by two days.
I would be remiss though if I didn’t share a few photos from Lauren and Sean’s maternity session. Our plan for the session all along was to do outdoor photos, but mother nature had other intentions. With the clock ticking on getting the session in we decided it was best to capture my sister’s pregnancy in the comfort of their home, and I’m so glad we did. Lauren, being the meticulous crafter and DIYer that she is had the perfect backdrop for photos in the nursery. The details, even down to the beautiful pink knobs on the refinished dresser perfectly accent the vintage floral theme of Nora’s new room.
These photos, taken at 34 weeks pregnant of my “baby” sister hopefully remind her of a special and fleeting time in her life. What seems like a never ending period of discomfort is really just a quick snap shop in the realm of life. My biggest hope though is that one day, far into the future, Nora will look at these photos and see how beautiful her mother was while pregnant with her and how excited both her mother and father were as they patiently waited for her arrival.
Classic books beautifully displayed in the reading nook.
Rocking horse and artwork…it’s all in the details.
I wish I had a before photo of this dresser because it wasn’t nearly as beautiful as it is now.
Little did they know at the time, but in less than three weeks from this photo, they were going to meet their baby girl, Nora.
More to come with Nora’s newborn photos!
When Lindsay and George found out they were going to be parents they had just sold their spacious condo and downsized to a one bedroom apartment that came complete with a water view. Life for the next year or so was going to be “easy living”. Fast forward a year and life isn’t so much about “easy living” but it is surely about loving a precious baby boy that filled a hole in their hearts they didn’t even know was there. It’s funny how our children transform our lives into something so incredibly wonderful our emotions just explode out of us. Our in-home session was just about capturing those natural, heartwarming and fun emotions that tell the story of this new family of three. You don’t have to look too hard to see how much sweet baby Rafe is loved.
Snuggle time with mommy. The best.
One day all too soon these little legs will extend far past the middle of the shirt.
Fitting perfectly in daddy’s hands.
Looking up at mommy and daddy.
A very alert and curious little model.
Baby feet!
A mother’s love for her child…there’s nothing like it.
Just having some fun with daddy.
All smiles for mommy and daddy here.
One lucky baby to be loved so much.
Congratulations Lindsay and George! I hope these small, but precious, captured moments serve as reminders of how wonderfully chaotic (at times), sweet, and emotional life as new parents can be. Enjoy re-visiting this time in your life as you hang your images in your new home (wherever that may end up being)!

I had the pleasure of photographing this family for the second time on their family farm in Southington. It was actually my last session before taking maternity leave and I’m glad I was able to get them in before baby came. Here are a few of my favorites from our session.
I’m excited to announce that our baby boy, Owen, arrived on September 10th! We are so blessed to have him as part of our family now and his big brother, Evan, is so happy to have a sidekick.
Even though I’d rather be behind the camera than one of the subjects, I truly believe it’s so important to capture the emotions you feel for your children through photography. As a result, you’ll see me in all my post-delivery, hospital glory, (photo credits goes to my husband) but this is all part of our story that Owen will hopefully one day appreciate…I know all of these images will forever be special to me.
Here’s a peek at Owen’s first few days of life.
As I finish up the last remaining client jobs before my second baby arrives I thought I’d share a few of my maternity photos with you all. This wasn’t a fancy, drawn out photo session. In fact, with a little set-up and a direction from me, my husband took them in our backyard and it took about 5 minutes total. I haven’t really documented this pregnancy and it occurred to me that this pregnancy has been special in a different kind of way from my first and I want to remember the reasons why being pregnant for the second time are so different. I’ve shared this pregnancy with my two-year-old son. We’ve been talking about baby for thirty something weeks now and he melts my heart every time he comes over to my belly to say hi to the baby, or asks baby to come out already, or even to sing or read to the baby. These photos serve as my reminder to how adorable and loving this big-brother-to-be has been. I can’t wait to see him as a big brother in a few weeks!
As for me, I’ll be taking a little bit of break as we wait for baby to arrive and then to enjoy some time as a family of four. I hope to be back up and running for the fall and holiday season. As for my next post, well, I’ll be excited to share photos of our newest addition!
I’ve had the pleasure of photographing this little miss starting from the baby bump up to the big milestone of her first birthday. This first birthday mini session was all about bubbles, which is very exciting for this one-year-old, and cake of course! Here are a few of my favorites from our first birthday session.
This family session took place on one of the hottest, most humid of days but it didn’t stop us from having fun! Here are a few of my favorites from our session.
